Make the writing easy to see
Use a flat page, strong contrast, and even light. Crop close to the note while leaving space around the first and last letters. A sharp block-letter list is a more reliable OCR input than faint, tightly joined cursive.
Convert the first draft
Upload the page to handwriting to text. OCR can give you a useful starting draft for a shopping list, meeting notes, or a whiteboard, even when it needs a correction pass.
Review names and numbers first
Handwriting recognition can produce plausible but incorrect words. Check people’s names, quantities, dates, URLs, and instructions against the image before you send or publish the result.
When typing is still faster
For a very short note with difficult writing, manual typing may take less time. OCR is most helpful when the note is long enough that a first pass saves effort.
